Connecting Land and Sea "The interface of land and sea is unique, drawing people for it's rich bounty, economic opportunity, recreation and inspiration. Protection of these special places preserves them for use and enjoyment for generations to come."
This Theme Statement, developed by the center's planning team, underscores the importance of understanding the cross currents of biological, physical and human factors. Through time these factors impact both the onshore and offshore elements of our coast. Much of the preservation and protection of this special place falls to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and California State Parks which jointly established the Coastal Discovery Center.
The staff and volunteers at the Center are dedicated to assisting the public in understanding the natural and cultural resources of the Central California coast and to providing information about local venues and coastal activities.
