School programs are only offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please choose a date at least 30
days in advance so we have time to schedule docents to help with your field trip. We will make every effort to meet
your first choice. Please provide a second choice day in case your first choice is already booked.

We recommend scheduling 2-3 hours at the Coastal Discovery Center (not including travel time.)
Sample field trip schedule:
Arrival, restroom break and orientation 15 minutes
Tour Coastal Discovery Center 45 minutes
Calif. State Parks Interpretative Program 30 minutes
Pier walk and introduction to upcoming field science activities 15 minutes
Optional Field Science Activities:
Sand Crab monitoring 30 minutes
Cave tidepooling activity (low tide permitting) 45 minutes
Change into dry footwear & field trip wrap-up 15 minutes
Board transportation or stay to eat lunch/snack at the outdoor picnic tables.

During field science activities at the beach students will very likely get their feet wet! We strongly recommend
everyone bring extra footwear and a towel.
